You Want to Major in What???
I've been meaning to post this for two weeks now, and kept forgetting. The guy that wrote this could have been me, 25 years ago. Here it is:
10 Ways Being a Theatre Major Prepared Me for Success
When I chose my major, I had no pipe dreams about becoming a professional actor. I did it because more than one wise adult had advised me that my actual major in college would have less impact on my eventual job search than having the actual degree. “Study what you love” I was told, “not what you think will get you a job.” I listened for once and chose theatre because I’d done it all through my secondary education, I had relative success doing it, and because I simply loved being a part of it. http://theatregeeks.com/
It's three, well, theatre geeks based out of a community theatre in Indiana that talk about their experiences in theatre every week or so. Take a listen, I think you'll enjoy them.

NBC, iTheatrics, Launch Philanthropic Campaign to Bring Musical Theatre to Under-Served Schools
NBC is going all out to promote its new TV show about the making of a musical, Smash—and the latest news is really something else. NBC and iTheatrics are launching “NBC’s ‘Smash’: Make a Musical campaign,” which they bill as “a philanthropic initiative that will help create sustainable musical theatre programs in underserved schools nationwide.” The initiative is an outgrowth of iTheatrics’ work in New York City public schools with the The Shubert Foundation/Music Theatre International Broadway Junior Project, and will send a Broadway master professional to a school in 20 U.S. cities to mentor students and teachers in how to produce a musical.
